European City Labs:
Thanks to the Erasmus+ Youth in Action
Urban Foxes' second Youth in Action training camp, Cites for People 2016, was an amazing time for both participants as facilitators.
Over 30 people from all over Europe with a variety of characters, ages, skills and smiles participated. All reunited in the vibrant city of Brussels, capital of Europe, a place of wonder, opportunities and challenges. The objective: Investigate and understand how cities can be more people-oriented.
After getting to know each other and their surroundings, by some active teambuilding sessions and a City exploration. Later on the different groups played the Public Space Game, where different stakeholders had to discuss and find a compromise regarding a local urban chalange.
Participants were immerged in a pool of good practices, crazy ideas and inspiring lectures, like Urban Activism, An Introduction to Place Making and the pedestrian zone in Brussels and the Gezi Park, to provide them with sufficient input to be able to successfully execute constructive actions and action plans of their own. The last day we held a closing event where all results were presented and where people could interact and play with the newly-invented games and activities.
We want to thank all the participants for their energy, love and creativity. Their partner organisations for the smooth collaboration, the EU for the funding. JINT for the help, tips and facilitation, JES for providing a wonderful venue, Cultureghem for their hospitality, our wonderful chef Monsieur Omelette and all the guest speakers for their enlightening lectures.
